1.
This is a journey, we are on. And we’re learning, along the way Like a melody, in a song. Following, the path it takes I think a melody, is better with a harmony Bound to make the sound so sweet, the way life can be When it rises clearly, like a wave from the deep blue sea A rolling tide pushing you and me, In harmony Navigating, every day. Feel the rhythm, guide along Driving through, dark and light. Lifting up, over time When we focus, on the line. The tune will carry, us away Together, in time. Following, the path we make
2.
My mother once told me you can worry yourself blue, But it won’t change the outcome there’s nothing you can do, When things go wrong and you can’t see straight, The best way over is to find a way through I just want to sleep all through the night Don’t want you to tell me it will be alright I don’t want to do it on my own And I don’t want to be alone My sister once told me you can’t do it alone, Find somebody special and build a home, Like a shelter in the winter from the driving snow A canopy on the nights the wind blows My Father never showed me the way to go He turned his back on us, and left us alone Forever and a day on this winding road I’ll never move forward if I don’t let go
3.
Looking at each other from across the room Waiting for the other to make a move Didn’t come here together but it’s all the same I’m sure you don’t even remember my name It’s a fine time to say Those things that I wanted to say Seems like the right time today But I’ll just leave it… for some other day And the years will pass they will crumble and fade Will we just be here lying, in the beds we have made To stand up and step across the floor To surrender pride and open the door
4.
I can believe, just like you believe, or you can believe just like me, but nothing will change, until we both see, you don’t need belief, to make something true. Are we shouting into an echoing room resisting all voices outside? Is truth just for you justice yours too no one else gets peace of mind I think It is clear, that we are broken But I don’t know when the break happened I know we’ll go broke, spending our time And what is the cost, for belief over truth
5.
Years ago, now, history had changed The chapter closed, time to start another page It wasn’t a surprise, the ink was never dry Trying to move through, mile markers in time Writing as you go using the muses that you find Shelter for a day. Hoping the emptiness will fade. Get me out don't keep me in, this circling wind Get me out don’t keep me in, this circling wind Here we are again, starting off another year Take it all in and gather up my fears The sun is gonna shine, yeah the sun will shine again Measuring emotion trying to give it all away Diving right ahead it always goes another way The light will always fade. When it's fighting with the rain

about

Following the Path We Make, draws inspiration from the musical foundations laid by the rock and roll greats of the late 70’s. Warm tones filled with the hook laden melodies Deon has become known for, decidedly more rock and roll than before while maintaining shades of Americana Country and Roots sounds. Aaron Goldstein (Gold Standard Recorders) shines again as producer and multi-instrumentalist with a masterful touch for tunes in this tradition.
