about

After spending the last decade in Calgary Alberta, Deon has begun a new chapter in Toronto. Previous releases, Lessons (And Other Things Learned) (2007) and Turning to Wave (2011) celebrated modest success with regular airplay on CKUA, CBC, and college radio as well as tour stops across Canada with frequent live forays to NYC. Deon’s new album, Chapter Forty (Dec 2016), maintains the strong melodic Folk and Americana sounds heard on previous releases, but the subject mater and tone is decidedly more melancholy and minor key’d. Warm ethereal sounds of 70’s influenced country, roots rock, and folk drip off of this collection of songs, beautifully produced by Aaron Goldstein (City and Colour, Daniel Romano, Lee Harvey Osmond) of Baldwin Street Sound.
